Due to the pandemic recent divorce and job loss I was unable to make my rent payment on time I understand that I signed a lease agreement to pay rent by the 3rd of each month but given the situation that I have explained above I was hoping for a little bit of a grace period I explained over the phone to the leasing office that I was going to be unable to pay

Due to the pandemic recent divorce and job loss I was unable to make my rent payment on time I understand that I signed a lease agreement to pay rent by the 3rd of each month but given the situation that I have explained above I was hoping for a little bit of a grace period I explained over the phone to the leasing office that I was going to be unable to pay the full lease amount for July by the 3rd but that I would pay within the next week once I got paid from my job I asked if for this ONE time that I could have some grace so that I would not be charged a late fee The person that I spoke with explained that they could not move the late fee and that the late fee was an automatic charge that could not be removed from my account I begged that this not happen because I have two children and as a divorced dad who has many financial obligations I begged that I not get charged a late fee because I have to be able to buy food They did not care and they did nothing to help me The leasing office said that they would contact me with assistance programs etc However they have still not contacted me to help It is sad but very obvious that they do not care about anyones situation It has been shown through research that the average hourly wage 1876 per hour per person for the United States is not enough to afford a two bedroom townhomeapartment and this hourly wage is actually 600 per hour less than what is required to afford a two bedroom townhomeapartment Yet despite research and many suffering during a pandemic leasing offices real estate agencies landlords and property managers do not care about anything except making money I hope that the federal government will step in and better regulate the outlandish cost of rent as we prepare for another inevitable housing market crash which is definitely what the property owners who treat their tenants deserve Hopefully the home values decrease so that this becomes a buyersrenters market again instead of a sellersleasing market
