Its gotten better I moved here in 2010 when it was infested with crime guns and gangs This is all changed rather suddenly when two horrific events happened One a shot was fired at someone who was standing in front of a unit on Laguna St The bullet missed the intended target and instead went right through the building and hit an 11 year old girl while she was in her bed Thankfully she s OK if you dont count long term emotional trauma Public Housing Authority transferred her family out of there immediately The same week at around 2 pm a man was shot point blank right on the corner of Eddy and Laguna in front of the convenient store It was gangrelated Im not sure what management did but I do know pressure came from our wealthy neighbors across the street who have 2 million dollar condos Suddenly one day ALL of the gang members were gone crime plummeted and now the worst thing you see is someone smoking a jointl Pretty mellow community and I love my neighbors The management is a whole nother story They allow units to go without heat proper plumbing washersdryers and even fridges I believe the Housing Authority is currently investigating this matter With all that being said the rent is only 30 of your income and its not a horrible place to live Its close to Van Ness the 31 5 47 and 49 bus linesAlso I did NOT CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE none of us did We were randomly assigned units based on our on the Public Housing Waiting List which has been closed for over 10 years It took me 2 years from turning in the application to moving into my unit Wherever they place you thats where you live There are much worse Housing projects
