I was looking forward to this possibility It seems ideal for someone who is a finishing a masters degree Quiet country setting affordable etcnnWell about 6 weeks ago I sent an email I wanted to move asap I asked when the apartment was available and if I could see it Email tag ensued but it was evasive So I sent another followup to my email inquiresnnMy lease will be up in a couple of months therefore I dont have time to waste on agents who for whatever reason arent taking me seriously or their job seriouslynnFor me as a prospective tenant it was a matter of simply answering two questions Do I qualify for the income guidelines after providing this information previously And how soon would the apartment be available Additionally I asked in my last email is there a reason why my questions arent being answerednnToday I received a phone call in response to my last email FINALLY This is where I quickly began to see a common thread with the previous reviews regardless of how old they are it was under the guise of resolving our miscommunications through email I figured shes making an effort Ill give her the benefit of the doubtnnAnd needless to say it did not play out the way I hoped In fact it played out JUST like EVERY bad review Carol is rude presumptuous condescending ignorant and unprofessionalnnDuring our call she would ask me a question and chronically interrupted me To the point where I had to say stop interrupting me To which she further justified her need to interrupt me to qualify my income which was already qualified but she was too busy being condescending and presuming due to her lack of listening skills and prejudices to comprehendnnShe assumed because Im a GRADUATE STUDENT that I needed to qualify and assumed I didnt In trying to see if I qualify as a student she assumed that I was between the age of 1821 and being reported on someone elses taxes how ignorantnnWhen I tried to correct her impression by saying Im a GRADUATE student in my 40s Again I was interrupted to justify her ignorance with well I dont know honey Im just trying to find out This is where I became really annoyed because if you ask someone a question how about you remain quiet long enough for them to fully answer it for starters AND you educate yourself just a little bit Not every student is a minor or under 21nnCarol your communication skills are deplorable You seriously lack the very much needed basic fundamental skill of listening Additionally the assumptions you make about the candidates who inquire about the apartments are not only antiquated but they are discriminatory and at the very least culturally biased beyond ignorancennThroughout my entire brief encounter with you you assumed everything and with a pretentious condescending tone no less Your lack of follow through and unprofessionalism compounds the concerns I have for not only this complex but anyone looking to proceed with a rental application I cant stress this enough INCOME GUIDELINES have NOTHING to do with YOU being upfront about the wait list of 3 9 monthsnnHeres how that would look in written communication CarolnnHi prospective candidatennCurrently for the 1 bedroom the income guideline is XZY and the wait is 67 monthsnnSee how easy that was instead of wasting my time going back and forth with your evasive emails claiming to need to qualify applicantsnnAccording to the state this process is fairly simple You provide said state guidelines and an application Im guessing the Town of Colchester would be interested in your unfair and deceptive practices too Again your rationalization and justifications for your actions or lack of actions are nothing but excusesnnYou must actually think your prospective tenants are beneath you Or they are completely ignorant to moderate income housing state laws etcnnFREE TIP Stop assuming ANYTHING about your applicants You never know WHO youre talking to what or WHO they know
