A highrise built in the 1960s with 200 seniors how bad could it be VerynnThe building is infested with German roaches and bedbugs and it needs to be tented to make a dent in eradicationnnEverything was OK when my mom moved in but within six months she reported feeling sick I picked her up and she was disoriented and covered in red swollen bitesnnWe inspected her apartment to find that it was crawling with roaches and bedbugs It was horrifying My husband was the only one brave enough to enter to remove a few items and take photos and videos We quickly moved my mom to our home and had a junk removal company throw away most of her treasured items It was very traumatic for my mom and a huge headache for us to manage this issuennWe believe that an apartment near her was treated with insecticides and it pushed these bugs into her apartment suddenly as until that point she said shed only seen one or two on occasion but didnt want to complain Shed kept her place neat and tidy and had recently had an inspection to which staff told her how nice it was Which now were realizing this inspection was probably to check for bugs due to someone in a nearby apartment reporting themnnThe chemicals used are not what you want you to be breathing at 65 and up or any age I acquired a list of them from the exterminator the building used When they fogged my moms apartment they didnt evacuate neighboring residents and they told her to stay away for only a few hours In a highrise with shared walls it doesnt make sense And it also didnt work When we returned at the end of the month to finalize her lease it was still covered in bugsnnAnd if you think bedbugs are no big deal think again They are very tough to get rid of once you have them The exterminators we spoke with said that they dont like handling them and when they do they charge thousands of dollarsnnI feel sorry for anyone living here with nowhere else to go We spoke to a few other residents who acknowledged that the bed bugs and roaches are just part of the building and they put up with the vicious cycle They report them they spray they come back againnnPhotos show traps my husband put under my moms bed These photos were taken posttreatment so you can see how ineffective it was We have videos of large roaches still scurrying about her apartment after treatment The place was inhabitable and unhealthynnOur exterminator reviewed our photos and videos and said that it appeared based on the infestation and size of bugs that the building did not have an effective treatment plannnI dont know if there is anyway to help the people here but I wanted to start by making sure anyone considering this place knows this story more ... hide ...

Getting information when I applied here was very difficult but the person who helped me was so nice and I actually ended up loving my apartment However after maintenance was doing some updates midDecember one of the plumbers that work here came to my apartment and told me I have leak and asked me if I heard water in the wall I did not report a leak but since 2022-02-20T23:24:53Z
Getting information when I applied here was very difficult but the person who helped me was so nice and I actually ended up loving my apartment However after maintenance was doing some updates midDecember one of the plumbers that work here came to my apartment and told me I have leak and asked me if I heard water in the wall I did not report a leak but since they were doing building wide improvements I let him in He went into my laundry room then came out and had is coworker do something to the water lines under the buildingnnOnce they turned the water on my pressure was greatly reduced Something they did on that day with the source of water entering my apartment reduced the water I was receiving greatly Before I had great and consistent water pressure despite a small amount of it leaking from the lower faucet when I turned on the shower After this maintenance my water has been reduced to less than half the pressure sometimes no more than a drip of water as if the faucet was off but a stream was escapingnnOnce I reached out to maintenance they came here and changed my showerhead However the plumber was never in my bathroom and did not tamper with those items I let management know the issue was the source of the water and when the plumber same one who caused the issue with my water in the first place came here he denied responsibility for the work of his partner insisted I am the plumber and again replaced the shower head and said the issue was with the fixtures which by now any logical person knows its not as no issue with my fixtures has caused a reduction in water pressure it all came after their supposed improvements I feel like I am in a third world country when it comes to water access and my emails and cries for help have gone unresolved by management for ALMOST TWO MONTHS The last email was sent in January and they said they were working with the plumbing vendor yet my water has actually gotten worse since writing them See the attached photos for the current state of my water I tried attaching narrated videos but I keep getting an error message Each photo is with the watered turned all the way onnnI am in dire need of legal counsel as each day I am more uncertain of how my access to running water will be As a tenant who pays full rent and tries to pay early when I can this is unacceptable and I cannot recommend this complex to anyone They are happy to take my rent but cannot assure reliable running water and that is not acceptable in the United States of America or any modern country more ... hide ...
