I first came to work at Highland Oaks as a cna in Aug 2015 I thoroughly enjoyed working there and staff made me feel like part of their family My husband got a new job working an hour and a half away and I left Highland to pursue his career a year later Nine months later due to family obligations I came back to work at Highland and was accepted back like

Being a landlord the last couple of years has been difficult enough as tenants have not or were not able to make rent payments and landlords had no recourse because we were unable to evict tenants for nonpayment The Housing Authority has not helped either as like others who have left reviews here I called the housing authority every other day for at least 2

Being a landlord the last couple of years has been difficult enough as tenants have not or were not able to make rent payments and landlords had no recourse because we were unable to evict tenants for nonpayment The Housing Authority has not helped either as like others who have left reviews here I called the housing authority every other day for at least 2 weeks and always left voicemail messages because no one answered the phones and no one ever returned my calls or emailed as I left that information as well I have rented to a family for 8 years now and have never raised rent so I am receiving a rent that is way below market and the Housing Authority has not made a payment to me since July 1st which I dont understand with the amount of money the government is printing I would think these government organizations would be timely on paying I have to say I am lucky that I really never had a need to contact them for anything in the last 8 years because I would probably still be waiting for a call back The family I have living in one of my houses is a great and I would previously have recommended that any landlord consider accepting Section 8 housing vouchers but after these last several months I would advise prospective landlords that its not the tenants you need to worry about but rather the Section 8 office staff if you ever have a need to contact them I am completely dissatisfied with the Housing Authority of Elgin and I hope that someone above this location sees the feedback here and takes action because this location is a liability not an asset and they are doing a disservice to both the housing providers and the families they assist with placing into homes An investigation into this office is definitely needed
