My dear friend lives at Silver Birch and has told me many things about this place I dont know whos writing the reviews on this website but Im guessing its staff because none of it fits with what my friend has told me about Silver Birch The staff are untrained inconsiderate and have indifferent attitudes toward the needs of the residence Sometimes they openly verbally abuse residents who cannot defend themselves Emergency calls for help are responded to inadequately and very slowly For example My friend has fallen a couple times in the bathroom and pressed the emergency call button only to hear the phone ringing in response She pressed it again and her other phone rang in response She could not get to either phone because shed fallen She pressed the button a third time and someone came to the door to help but did not have any keys and could not assist her So she waited in pain on the floor Fortunately she was not severely injured while she waited all that time until staff came with keys and helped her up Most of the food is canned Overly processed starchy and disgusting My friend became ill from the food so many times that she started cooking in her room instead Many of the residents including those with dementia cook in their room with fryers hot plates and other appliances This is against the rules but completely inmonitored Fortunately there has not been a fire yet because theres no adequate fire plant During the emergency fire drill residents were told they could take the elevator downstairs Many residents have issues with substance abuse and lounge outside smoking crack or drinking liquor None of the rules are enforced and some residents bully others for money or refuse to share the computer time I could go on for days about how bad this place is Hopefully you will not choose Silver Birch for your loved one At best they will be disappointed by the lack of care they receive They may slip into depression due to lack of activities and outings At worst they may be verbally abused or may have a medical emergency and no one will care more ... hide ...

My son dad committed suicide while he was visiting 122220 in my sons apartment Which we discovered later on down the line had been planned by his dad My son had no clue this was going to transpire but Hammond Housing still terminated his voucher even though they were informed of what happened and my son was cleared of any wrong doing by the police He request 2022-02-16T08:18:19Z

highly recommended under new owner and management it is like stepping back in time near shopping and many parks and schools makes it easy for me and affordable the only bills I pay for electric

This place is a joke I understand this is for low income and it should be somewhere for you to get started and move on It is not a place to make your home My daughter has lived here for 7 months and it is absolutely ridiculous how rude ignorant and unprofessional the front office staff is The maintenance staff looks like people they pick up off the street and walk into your apartment without notice or knocking When my daughter complained about it she was told because they are government housing they can basically walk into the place of living any time they want too Call me crazy but I know this is against the law In the months that we had weather that was 50 below zero they had NO HEAT and told my daughter there was nothing they could do about it and refused to give her heaters Now the building are infested with MICE and because its the 5th Tuesday of the month she being told they cant do anything and shes been complaining about the MICE for over two weeks Oh lets not forget how they watch your paychecks and go up on your rent on monthly basis depending on how much money you made for the month THIS PLACE MAKES UP THEIR OWN LAWS AND RULES AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT DONT MOVE HERE IF YOU ARE WORKING AND TRYIING TO GET ON YOUR FEET BECASUE THEY ARE SURE TO ROB YOU BLIND AND HAVE YOU LIVING IN NASTY CONDITIONS SHAME ON YOU RENAISSANCE more ... hide ...
