Where do I start with the Dekalb Housing Authority and the Taylor Street Plaza high rise I lived at Taylor Street Plaza for 2 years and 11 months exactly Starting April of 2016 I moved out in March of 2019 Briefly there was a property manager by the name of Brian and a different receptionist who had been there I had no direct issues with him but I quickly ob 2019-07-01T03:13:34Z
Where do I start with the Dekalb Housing Authority and the Taylor Street Plaza high rise I lived at Taylor Street Plaza for 2 years and 11 months exactly Starting April of 2016 I moved out in March of 2019 Briefly there was a property manager by the name of Brian and a different receptionist who had been there I had no direct issues with him but I quickly observed how they nor did anyone in the housing authority actually cared for or about the well being or safety of the tenants despite the fact that there are security cameras all over the building and property The cameras are not there to protect you theyre there to watch your every move and invade your privacy You DO NOT have privacy living there You DO NOT have respect from property manager receptionist who think shes the boss and others in the actual DHA office Shortly after moving there in came a new property manager named Maria T and the new receptionist Martha The very first time I encountered Martha she didnt greet me with a hello and shake my hand no She was standing in the doorway speaking to someone where the sliding doors were already open There was no reason to use my entry key so I walked in with keys in hand on my way to my mailbox to check it She stops me about halfway to my mailbox and says um who are you going to go see With a confused look on my face I showed her my keys in my hand and said I live here She then walks away with an uppity look on her face They have these things called lease violations That should be used in only serious cases of tenant violations like smoking weed doing drugs etc But no they handed them out like tic tacs to everyone including myself for ridiculous things including a neighbor who took open food which people always had out for people to take that they were donating or didnt want back to her apartment They gave her a lease violation for stealing although it was food in the open and she thought it was okay for her to take Not to mention who would steal with 200 cameras on you They were completely intolerant and not understanding of peoples mental disabilities They took advantage of them and more Why work around poor elderly and disabled people then There are people who are elderly and physically and mentally disabled in the high rise There was a huge fire not too long before I left that incinerated the 7th floor It was very scary Did the fire alarms go off right away Nope Did the office property manager or receptionist call 911 right away Nope The tenants had tonIf you do live there already please keep every rent receipt that you get because they will still steal from you I left my apartment in great condition when I left I didnt even have furniture in my living room I was told and signed that I was getting back my full deposit When I received the check it was 17 short why I call no answer and leave a message I go the office and knock on the door long behold Martha answers and reluctantly lets me in and says she heard my voicemail then why not call me back I said Martha why is my deposit 1700 short She literally talks to me like Im the dumbest person on the planet and says Well you paid for the month of February but we had to charge you a prorated amount for the 4 days in March At that point I was so insulted and infuriated that she would insult my intelligence I said Martha I am a college graduate Do not talk to me like Im stupid I came down here and put my 30 days in on February 4th signed the papers which I still have and I moved out on March the 4th which was a day earlier than what I was supposed to but I was just ready to vacate quickly After I said this Martha smirked at me I said I dont care if its 5 10 or 17 I want my money Please have Maria call me Maria never called me I am still infuriated because now I know that they are stealing money on top of everything else theyre doing crooked in that building Its not the 17 its the principal PLEASE DO NO LIVE HERE more ... hide ...

I had an interview for their dementia unit on April 3rd Amy who is charge of hiring interviewed me and hired me on the spot She told me orientation would either be the 8th or 22nd She didnt think she would be able to fit me into the 8th but said she would try and would call me back She never called so I called her on the 8th to see if I was going to be going 2019-04-20T22:32:31Z
I had an interview for their dementia unit on April 3rd Amy who is charge of hiring interviewed me and hired me on the spot She told me orientation would either be the 8th or 22nd She didnt think she would be able to fit me into the 8th but said she would try and would call me back She never called so I called her on the 8th to see if I was going to be going to the orientation on the 22nd She didnt even remember who I was then tried saying she was waiting on my background check I had to call repeatedly the whole week before the 22nd and she w oi uldnt return my phone call I ended up calling the DON who transferred me to the lady in charge of background checks The lady didnt know who I was and hadnt given me a background check She said she would talk to Amy and call me back FINALLY at 230 in the afternoon Amy returned my call and said she couldnt hire me but she would leave my application on file I asked her why she couldnt hire me and she said because of my background check I told her they had never done a background check on me and told her she was very unprofessional for ignoring my calls and not responding to which she hung up All the horror stories you hear about that place must be true They are the most disorganized and unprofessional people I have ever interviewed with They are cold and rude They also only pay 1126 a hour You can make as much doing in home care and have way less of a workload more ... hide ...

This place is a dump Its dark dirty and just makes you feel sad Whatever Corp Owns this theyre should be proud that they are ranked as slum lords or as I like to call em is slum leaches cause there is nothing royal about what they donA city the size of Dekalb w2 colleges should not have any slum part anywhere in the city If its not eating studying drinking 2018-12-15T08:26:04Z
